Message from the Elementary Principal

WOW! I am very excited to have been chosen as the new elementary principal for Normangee! In fact, I am ready for all the teachers and students to hurry up and get back so we can get started, but I’m sure they would appreciate having their full summer so I guess I’ll have to wait another month or so.

I’ve created a blog where I will post news about our school. The address is http://normangee.edublogs.org/. This blog is the place where I will post news about our school. You’ll find classroom news, testing information, special events, student and teacher achievements, and much more. My goal is to update it weekly or as needed so that parents are always aware of what is happening in their child’s school. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to respond to the things I post with your comments, questions, concerns, ideas and praises.

Preparations for the 2008-09 school year are already in full swing! Janet Jones and her crew are busily preparing our campus to shine for when the kids return. We have a new elementary music teacher from Canyon, Texas — Kendra Jones. Some teachers have even been at the school preparing their classrooms for next year. Registration begins August 4th. If you have questions about registration requirements, please contact Lorainne Bush at 936.396.9999.

Finally, I would like to thank all the teachers and parents and other well-wishers who have stopped by the office or called to congratulate me on the new position. It is bittersweet to leave the classroom that I have loved so much and to leave the secondary campus that has been my home for the last three years. But I am very excited about my new position as elementary principal, though I know it won’t be a year free from troubles or mistakes. In fact, it will be chockful of challenges. Many of the things you love about Normangee Elementary will remain the same — excellent teachers, fun learning environment, high expectations — and some things will be new — new superintendent, new principal and a new curriculum. One thing that will never change about Normangee Elementary is our commitment to providing kids with a safe and secure school where learning is the priority!

I am looking forward to the adventure. I hope you are too!

Mrs. Lee
